Title: Castle of Kings
Series: A Kings MC Romance
Author: Betty Shreffler
Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: December 1, 2017

I honestly couldn’t stop imagining Jonny James, the male model on the cover, the entire time I was reading this book. Jake is already a pretty potent dominant badass biker, but with Jonny’s face and body it really turns the sexy times up to eleven. There is a lot of sex in this book, however, it is not out of context with the characters or story. It adds to the romantic passion Liz and Jake share, keeping this story in the romance genre instead of leaning towards erotica. I’m not sure where the author plans to go, if this is a standalone or the start of a series, but I kind of wished there was more conflict in the secondary characters. Nix and Jenna came together too easily, and maybe if the author writes their story we might see more depth. However, from Liz’s perspective the tale was far to simplistic for my taste. There was some mild aspects of the MC life in these books, but unlike most MC books this is a riding club. Not an outlaw club, not a one percenter club. These guys do charity runs, party hard, and maybe shirt the edges of the law. Murder and violence isn’t part of their everyday life, but they aren’t afraid to get their hand dirty when you threaten one of their own.

Overall I enjoyed the book, the sexy times were hot and dirty, and the passion between the lead characters was intense.  I’ve read dozens of MC books, and this club is different than most I read (not necessarily in a bad way). While it was a fun, passionate, and dirty read I enjoyed, it wasn’t a deep emotional tale. Perfect to take your mind off things when the day has driven you to drink. So pour a glass of wine or crack a beer and settle in for a wild ride.

Jake F*cking Castle

When he walks into a room, he owns it. He consumes my very breath and melts my delicate little panties. From the moment he set eyes on me, he decided I was his. No one – not even my brother, Nix – was going to tell him otherwise. It doesn’t matter than Nix is President of the Kings MC Club. Jake wants what he wants, and he’ll set out to get it, whatever the cost.

Jake may be an arrogant asshole, but there’s no denying the hold he has over me. His fierce, carnal need to make me his, and his alone, is a snare I can’t escape. And truth be told, I don’t want to.

But when my life becomes threatened, Jake Castle is the only man my brother trusts to protect me. He knows Jake will do anything to keep me safe.

AC Book Squared – “There’s the perfect amount of drama, action and romance in this book. It’s everything I would want in an MC Book.”

Between The Hardcovers – “Yep, I’m a Betty Shreffler addict. While I don’t normally read MC genre books, this one was freakin awesome!!!! Jake freaking Castle is the man of my dreams.”

Betty Shreffler is a self-proclaimed nerd and nature enthusiast obsessed with folklore, photography, writing, reading, movies, board games, hiking, gardening and spending time with her husband and five fur babies. Not necessarily in that exact order though. During her outdoor adventures she’s been face to face with an alligator, a bear and a coyote, making for some of the most memorable experiences of her life. She loves to capture and share the world’s beauty through the lens of her beloved Nikon camera. Her work experience has been diverse from working as a Ranger for the National Park Service to management positions in Fortune 500 companies. She’s lived in four different states and moved homes twelve times. She received a BA in organizational management and minor in sociology, although her heart has always belonged to writing and photography. Growing up, she read romance or supernatural novels and jotted down poems and short stories to express her emotions and alleviate the characters’ voices in her head. Not much has changed, only now her stories are lengthier and her characters more interesting.
